The JC SEN Portfolio is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA on desktop, tablet and smartphone, with neurodiversity-informed design on top. Accessibility is checked while the platform is built, not added at the end.

This is a design target, not a claim of conformance. We have not yet published an independent audit. The audit method, date and result: to be confirmed.

Three languages

The interface is available in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. You can switch language on any page, and your choice is remembered. Every piece of visible text exists in all three languages.

Traditional Chinese follows Hong Kong school conventions; Simplified Chinese follows mainland conventions. Reports for families are designed to be produced in English and Chinese, with a check that the meaning is the same before they are shared.

Designed for calm use

Beyond WCAG, the platform follows neurodiversity-informed design principles. Some are in place in the demonstration; some are still open items.

  • Predictable navigation — Consistent layout; one primary action per screen to reduce cognitive load.
  • Sensory-considerate visuals — A calm, light palette; no auto-play motion or flashing; reduced-motion settings are respected.
  • Plain language — Short, plain text in each language; tasks split into steps; guided flows; room for mistakes.
  • Quiet mode — The child view has a low-distraction quiet mode. A reduced-clutter mode for teachers is still an open item.
  • Child view — Read-only, strengths-only; no scores, no labels, no alerts; used with a supervising adult.
  • Known limits — Offline capture is not yet designed. Colour contrast and other checks await an independent audit: to be confirmed.
